Kinsmen Club of The Pas makes large commitment to the community

On March 30th, the Kinsmen Club voted on a motion to commit $20,000 to the Outdoor rink project.  The vote passed unanimously and now the club will move forward working with the Rotary Club and The Pas MInor Hockey on how we can complete this project as quickly as possible.

‘’When the idea was brought to us to fully commit to building an outdoor rink within the next year, we had some discussions about the needs of the community and the amount of fundraising that has occurred for various projects over the last several years.’ States Brent Colgan, ‘we wanted to be involved, as we always do, with something that would be done in a timely matter and have the largest benefit to the community possible.’

The club will now work with partners to get the design work done and figure out rather quickly what is needed and how we can get started with the project.  The club currently has money to commit to this project in its long-term savings and is hoping that a successful mud run in September will help top that fund up to meet the commitment.

“As the Kinsmen Club, we have always believed in providing safe venues for healthy activities for the youth of our community and in ensuring our youth have a healthy opportunity to grow and develop to become the next leaders of our region,” concludes Kevin Carlson, President of the Kinsmen Club of The Pas.

In 2015/16, the Pas Kinsmen provided $29,035 in donations and support to community groups and 3,187 volunteer hours. We look forward to growing and providing even more in 2016/17.
